Fresh French Fries
March 26, 2008
There are numerous pros and cons to fast food places. The long lines during busy hours make you wonder if you could’ve gone to a fancy restaurant, ordered appetizers and dessert, and still have time to spare. Yet when the second window finally approaches, the food is fresh and melty and everything you hoped for with some fat on top. Going inside a fast food joint is never a good experience since the tables are sticky with grease or drool or coke or who knows what, but it is always fun making fun of people that work there behind their (a. enormous b. pimply) backs. In those situations you usually know what to expect. What you don’t know is the quality of the food. A trick of the trade to get fresh French fries is to ask for fries with no salt on them. The fry shaker has to cook up a new batch without showering them in salt when that is exactly what you’ll do when you drive off or sit down. That ensures fresh fries no matter if it is noon or midnight.
